Dane Fleischhacker RSW, BSW
Dane completed his Bachelor’s of Social Work at the University of Regina in 2014. He is currently a registered member of the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (#3669) and adheres to the Canadian Association of Social Work Code of Ethics.
Since completing his degree, Dane has been working as a Social Worker in mental health and addictions counselling in Regina. He has held positions within the Saskatchewan Health Authority as an Addictions Counselor, Community Mental Health Worker, and worked as the Senior Social Worker in a program specializing in counselling and case management of clients experiencing concurrent disorders (both mental health and addictions issues).
Dane has experience working with alcohol, substance, and gambling addictions. Dane also has experience working with people who struggle with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, grief, chronic pain, post traumatic stress, postpartum and peripartum depression, personality disorders, neurological disorders, cognitive impairments, born and/or acquired brain injuries, and psychosis.
Dane has a strong understanding of the connection between mental health issues and addiction, and he believes in the use of evidence-based interventions to address any mental health and/or addictions concerns that clients may experience.
Dane believes in building therapeutic relationships with individuals and working with clients to develop and implement their personal treatment goals. He also believes in working from a harm-reduction perspective which allows for individuals to address their addictions at a level that they are comfortable with. Working from this harm-reduction perspective allows for individuals to work with Dane in a non-judgemental manner to develop their individual recovery plan, rather than feeling pressured to commit to an all-or-nothing plan for abstinence if that is not a plan that will best meet their individual needs. Dane is also able to navigate connecting individuals with both private and publically funded detox and inpatient treatment centres.
Dane enjoys spending time in nature gardening, camping, hiking, and snowboarding. He loves to travel throughout Canada and abroad. He is a strong supporter of local music and loves to attend live music shows whenever he can!
